Staying connected to your child while on a Supervised Visit is hard, you have limited time, feelings are in a turmoil and you have a monitor watching and listening. What activities can you do that are somewhat normal and yet keeps you connected?
One of the best activities is reading to your child or if your child is older maybe read a book that they are interested in before the visit so you are able to discuss the book. For the younger child reading with them is a great way to stay connected, if your child is unable to read just sharing a book with bright colors and pictures is great, for the slightly older child reading along with them is wonderful and memories they will most always cherish.
While my grandson was attending TK his teacher made each child in her class a reading blanket. It was a square soft blanket with a matching bag to fold the blanket up into when not in use. Each child had a different fabric pattern and they brought it out for reading time. This is a great idea for bringing on a visit to share some special time just being together and forgetting all about life's up's and down's
